Time To Play Catch Up

Let's start from where we left off shall we......

October 2012- Trying to get pregnant and discouraged as all get out!
Jared and I had been on fertility treatments for going on 7 months with no luck of conceiving. It was getting emotionally and mentally exhausting(for both of us)so after talking about we decided to take a little breather. I stopped taking all medications and decided to do my best to focus on building clientele and bettering myself. Jared kept busy with work and school and we chugged along. Surprisingly things got a lot easier and enjoyable. It was nice not focusing on days, ovulation charts, dr. appointments, etc.... I found myself becoming content with the way things were. Always hoping but no longer dwelling on something I had no control over. We enjoyed our new home in Oregon, Duck football games, Holidays and family! It really was a fun few months :)
On our way home from a Duck Football game! Mom & Dad have season tickets and always share with us kids! Love them. Love football.
I told Jared to get all dressed up because I was taking him out on a "fancy" date! It was sooooo funny because he even shined his shoes.....
This is where I took him...haha
 It was a BLAST!!!
We drove to Utah with my dad to visit my Grandma Durfee who was sick and recovering. While there we met up with some of my cousins and Jared's best friend and his girlfriend. We went to a haunted house in Salt Lake...oh the things Jared talks me into!

At an Oregon Soccer game with these handsome men! Love nephews and nieces :)
Lindsay's photo bomb = EPIC!

My sisters and I went to the Scandinavian festival,
It was a lot of fun!

December 2012- Feeling Weirdly Sick
On Sunday December 2nd I woke up like normal and started getting ready for church. I felt weirdly sick(that's the only way I know how to describe it). I felt nausea's but knew it wasn't the flu or anything like that. When we got to church I thought I was going to die. I was a little light headed and was seriously STARVING! I thought it was maybe due to it being fast Sunday. I was feeling a little silly being that hungry after fasting for such a short time. I made it through church and ran to find my chatty Kathy husband so we could go home ASAP! I kept begging him to break my fast but he kept encouraging me to wait a little longer. I felt like a lame bot. Great I'm the fat twinky girl I thought. I am a stinkin chubbers who can't go without food for longer than 3 hours. Feeling pretty discouraged I decided to take a nap(after eating of course...sorry babe this girl can't wait any longer). I went to the potty room before my nap and out of the corner of my eye saw a pregnancy test. I was going back and forth trying to decide if I should waste it. Ahhhh what's one more wasted 8.00 test...haha I locked the door so Jared didn't see me and my crazyness. I was positive it would be negative. I took it. I waited. Two lines. Wait what?!?!????? TWO LINES!!!! Rubbed my eye's. Checked again. Still two lines. Almost Passed out. Yelled for Jared. Secretly celebrated that I wasn't a twinky girl after all. Jumped up and down. YAY YAY YAY!!! Jared came running down the hall to see what was going on. I showed him. It was not at all the reaction I was expecting. He was really calm and serious(I think it may of freaked him out a bit). He told me not to get too excited until we went to the doctor and found out for sure for sure. Then he decided to take a nap! It kind of threw me off a bit. I guess I was expecting more of a reaction. I love Jared and looking back realize he was only trying to protect my heart in case of another let down. As the night went on he got more excited at the possibility!

That night...positive tests!

The next day we went to the doctors and blood tests and ultra sounds confirmed the pregnancy! We had no idea how far a long I was because I hadn't had a period for 6 months. I have no idea how I got preggers. It was 110% Heavenly Father's doing. This little girl was meant to come at this time. My little miracle! I love tender mercies.
We found out we were 6 weeks along! This was going to be a flip flop lovin Summer baby!

Soon after the excitement reality of pregnancy set in and it set in HARD! I was deathly sick. I didn't want to move or even think for that matter. It was miserable but I tried to remember how badly I wanted this and how blessed I was. We waited a week before telling family(other than my dad, I had to tell someone)! First we told my parents(video of that below) and older sister. To tell my other siblings my mom bought three Graco Swings for my siblings and I. They gave the swings as an "early" Christmas present to my brother and sister(who already have kiddo's). They then told me that when I had a baby they would buy me one. My dad paused and then said, "Oh wait you are having a baby, here's yours". My siblings sat there for a second before my older brother JUMPED out of his seat and excitedly said, "What your pregnant"!!! It was hilarious and a fun way to tell the rest of my family! Jared wanted to tell his family in person and already had a plane ticket out there before we found out about all this baby madness. I bought stuff for him to make a shirt with! He wore it there. Everyone was excited!
The shirt Jared wore home!

Pregnancy was a challenge for me(not my shiniest of moments)but I was grateful for the opportunity.
The things I craved....WATERMELON was my happy thought...holy yum!!!
Jared on a late night run to get me my bff Mr. Watermelon...he drove the whole way home like this so that he could experience a moment in my shoes...haha Best Husband Award!

GIRL or BOY???!!!!!!??????
The entire pregnancy I was convinced that I was going to have a baby boy, probably because I have so many nephews. Jared thought it was a boy up until the night before the ultra sound then he changed to team girl. It was exciting and nerve racking going in to find out. We took my mom and she was so funny. She wouldn't stop asking the ultra sound tech if it was a boy part anytime she thought she could see something that resembled it slightly. The ultra sound tech FINALLY told us that she was pretty sure we were having a.....

and the doctor confirmed it! I was in shock and still didn't believe it! I even woke up the next morning and started tearing up because I told Jared I still thought she was a he...haha Lame spice pregnancy hormones! I was beyond thrilled. I got girly giddy really fast! My mom took the day off from work and after we found out took me for lunch and shopping for baby clothes! It was such a fun day! We told my siblings that night. They all guessed and then unwrapped pink clothes to find out the sex!
Our sweet baby girl!
20ish weeks pregnant!!

By the 5th month my ALL day sickness(the name morning sickness = all lies) had come to an end...HOORAY!!!!! I still experienced the normal comfortableness of pregnancy(heart burn, restless legs and sleep deprivation, etc) but made it through! I had two great showers thrown for me. One here in Oregon and one in Utah! I am so grateful for my awesome moms, grandma and sisters for all that they did for me. I was and still am beyond blessed!
 34 weeks pregnant!!
Jared at birthing classes, he was such a good sport!

We decided on the name Averie Nicole after a lot of long thought. When we were dating I told Jared that I really liked the name Averie and he seemed to like it too. When I got pregnant Jared decided that he also liked the name Lucy so to be fair we tried calling her that for a month to see if it fit and it just never felt completely right. We kept coming back to Averie. We named her middle name after my older sister Lindsay(Nicole) because she is the one who introduced us! If it weren't for her Averie would not be here so it only seemed right :)

August 2013- BABY TIME
Thursday(August 1st)Jared and I were scheduled to go to the hospital at 8:00pm to prepare to be induced early the next day. That morning I woke up with really uncomfortable back pain that would come and go off and on. I had a hunch it was contractions but they weren't close enough to go in. That evening we went out for one last date as a family of two and then headed to the hospital! When we got there they checked me in, started the monitors and sent for someone to start my IV. While waiting for my IV Jared made himself at home setting up his air mattress and jumping into the giant jetted bath tub..haha I love it and I love him. He also got me a redbox! It took two hours, 5 people and ten needle pokes to get my IV in(talk about bruised arms and hands)! That was probably one of the worst parts of the whole thing. They checked and I had dilated enough on my own that they decided I was in active labor and didn't need to be induced after all. Averie is awesome and decided to come on her own! They gave me a sleeping pill and I was knocked out. Around 4:00 in the morning I woke up in pain but it was bearable. I tried not to wake Jer up and jumped in the tub myself. It worked really well, making the pain go down. Around 6:30 I had a painful contraction and Averie kicked really hard at the same time causing my water to burst(literally)! There was a lot meconium in the water so I was a little nervous but they made sure to keep a good eye on the baby and her heart rate which made me feel better. I was dilated to a four. By 11:00 I was fully dilated and ready to go. I had a good cheer team in the room(Jared, mom, sisters and dad). They also had a pediatrician and respiratory therapist in the room because of the meconium. I pushed for about 15 minutes and her heart rate started to drop. I could tell the doctor and nurses were nervous as they kept looking at the monitor and back at me. At that moment in time I was in a lot of pain so I couldn't really concentrate on much which I am grateful for. The doctor decided that they really needed to get her out so three pushes and a vacum later she was in my lap. She was a gray color and not breathing(which actually was a good thing because she didn't have a chance to swallow the meconium). I was in a lot of pain due to her some what violent entrance into the world(I don't know how to say it much better than that). The doctor thought she may have broken her clavicle but luckily it was fine. They got her breathing pretty quick and her color started to get better. She was BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT in every way! Jared got a little green at the end of the delivery but luckily it didn't last long. It was cute he was in tears as he saw her for the first time happy and healthy! She was 7lbs 8ounces and 21 1/2 inches long! Her cry is to die for cute and quiet. She is such a good baby, we are so lucky! I am grateful that we were at the hospital when my water broke and during the delivery because of the extra help we needed to make sure she arrived alive and healthy. Honestly it was such a fast and easy process overall. I thought it was going to be so much worse. I am counting all of my blessings. Through this process I am once again reminded how aware of us our Father In Heaven is. He truly did answer so many of my prayers. I am the luckiest girl!

One Is The Lonliest Number

So I'm not really sure where to begin or if I even should. I don't want this to turn into a negative thing as my trust in Heavenly Father's plan for my life assures me that it is not. Jared and I have been trying to have a little one for the last year now with no such luck. I have been on clomid for going on 7 months each month hoping for two little lines, each month ending in face frowning disappointment. Sometimes I get really frustrated when time after time all that comes from that tiny expensive strip is one lonely little line but all and all I have kept my head held high. Today as I saw that oh so familiar lame spice line I felt my heart sink a little , but was quickly reminded of  my sweet husband and his sweet words. Jared told me just yesterday that we need to ALWAYS keep our glasses half full, think of our blessings rather than our misfortunes. I thought about that as I walked out of the bathroom and sat on the couch next to him. I told him about the lame spice line and asked him to share with me one positive thing about not being pregnant. He smiled and told me not just one but two things...haha All of which were true, all of which made me feel better! I wanted to share this little insight into our lives with you, my friends and family not for pity but for the shear example of our Heavenly Father's love for each of us. It really does amaze me how well he knows each and every one of us. I have no doubt that Jared and I will be blessed to form a child and bring it into this world when the time is right. I have faith in that. For now though I am going to work on filling my glass...COMPLETELY. I am going to better myself in all aspects of my life(as a disciple, wife, daughter, sister, teacher and friend). I am so grateful to be a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. I really can't ask for much more, as I have everything that I need and more. I am truly the Luckiest girl alive!!
P.s I am first counselor in the Young Women's....HOORAY!

The story of my pretty shiny!

Okay so here is the engagement story you have all been asking about.....
So, I had been planning on going home for a few weeks to visit my family and work. Jared's parents and little sister were coming with me on this fun little adventure to meet my family and just tour the awesomeness of Oregon! I was really hoping to have
a pretty shiny(AKA: ring on my finger) before I left. I thought that maybe if I was really lucky, I just might get my wish! Well, the week before we left Jared's mom informed me that Tom(the ring guy) was out of town...BLASTED!!!!!! My hopes quietly went crashing down. I was bummed to the max but what could I do right(shoulder shrug). I had to smile and just keep pressing on. Thursday night(3 days before we left) Jared asked me what my ring size was....WHAT?!?!??!!!! Grrr...all I could think of was, "You mean to tell me it's still not even sized"..haha I have learned through this whole process that my patience is seriously lacking
...working on it(scouts honor)!! Well that weekend(Saturday to be exact)Jared picked me up for our normal weekly date. Nothing was out of the ordinary. He seemed to be anxious to go eat but I just assumed the kid was super hungry..
haha He told me that the Olive Garden was having a two for one special for some kind of an anniversary. He thought it would be good since we were and still are trying to save money(not to mention it's his favorite place to get grub)! He asked me to call his mother dear and ask her which Olive Garden was having the special or if it was all of them. I did. She answered. I asked. She laughed. She went on to tell me that it wasn't the Olive Garden(silly Jared), it was The Garden(easy mistake). Ohhhhh I said, "The place were we went on our first date"? Yep that was the one. I told Jared that we could still go to the Olive Garden if he wanted. We discussed it and then both agreed that it would be kind of fun to go back to The Garden(for old times sake of course)! It was really funny because sure enough there was a 100th anniversary going on...CRAZY!!! I was still completely off in my own world not assuming a thing! We took the elevator to the 10th floor and then went to the front desk to see if there were any open tables. The receptionist asked if we had a reservation...ummm No! Lucky for us there was a table open. Jared had obviously gone earlier on that day and worked it out...sneaky sneaky! I just love this cute sweet adorable boy! When we sat down Jared seemed a little off but I just thought it was because he was un-entertained by my current rant and rave..haha He told me that he wanted to switch things up
for a change and chose my meal! I was totally cool with that, it sounded fun! Hmmm what was Jer Bear going to pick for me....so anxious to find out :)! After 5 minutes he
put the menu down and said that he had come to a conclusion. He asked if I wanted to see what he had chosen but I said no. He insisted saying that he didn't want to order something
that I didn't like. I gave in. He opened the menu and pointed. My heart stopped. My head felt like it was on fire. I sat there. I starred.
I somehow DIDN'T quiet catch on...haha I am blond remember. All I saw was where it said, "Hailey's Special". I just kept thinking, "Hmmmm, was this here last time? Maybe they have a different name special every week, what a coincidence"...lol The entire time Jared was thinking that I was reading the menu...haha He got on one knee and immediately I blurted out word for word, "Are you freaking kidding me right now" hahahahaha I was beyond SHOCKED!!!!!!! My mouth just hung open as I stared back and forth between him, the ring and the menu. Boy oh boy was I lost! He asked. He waited patiently for an answer. He kept waiting. He waited some more. He looked at me with the face of, "Please answer me soon?" hahaha OH CRAP I totally forgot that I had to say yes.....! When it finally hit me I said YES without hesitation! It was a beautiful moment. PERFECT! I couldn't stop smiling. I couldn't stop looking at him. I just kept waiting to be woken up from this happily ever after fairytale dream! It was priceless, truly!!! The effort and thought that went in to this proposal describes Jerad and the person that he is to a tee. He is so very loving and kind. It is his greatest desire to see me smile, to make me happy! I still have a hard time understanding how I got so lucky. Someone please tell me how did I end up with someone so GREAT???!!!! It is beyond me. I went home that next week with the pretty shiny on my finger..YAY! The moral of the story: Wishes do come true! :) On August 20th 2011 I am marrying my best friend for all time and eternity! Big heart smile!!!!!!

Smiling Heart

My Heart is oh so very happy!!
Do you remember when you were little and you would write a list of all the things that you look for in a future husband?!?!!! Who knows maybe it was just me but seriously, I did that ALL of the time! I would write things like...
1.) Strong Testimony; Worthy Priesthood Holder
2.) Education; Smart

3.) Sense Of Humor; Makes Me Laugh

4.) Sweetheart; Treats Me Good

5.) Smokin Hot
6.) Romantical; Good kisser

etc...
The the list would seriously go on and on and ON...oh and look, on some more! It was like the stinkin energizer bunny...haha Man did I expect a lot, a real life prince charming I tell you!!!
When I returned from my mission I re-read that list and just had to laugh at myself. There was no way in Tarzan that I was going to be able to find "Mr. Awesomely Perfect", "Mr. Fit All Of The Qualities On My Sweet Sauce Future Husband List"...haha! Well ladies and gentleman hold on to your pink bloomers because oh my heck, I have the GREATEST news of the year....are you ready for this(I'm not sure you are..)?!?!?!?!! I don't admit this very often(no but seriously I really don't)...I was wrong!!!!!
Jared seriously fits EVERY single one of those qualities.
Can you believe that! I have actually found my Happy Thought, my Prince Charming, my Happily Ever After, The Love Of My Life!
Once again....MY HEART IS SMILING(A big cheesy grin)!!
I have a feeling I better get use to this, I think I may have a happy heart for the next little while, maybe even ETERNITY :)

Jared & Hailey

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE

1 universe, 9 planets, 204 countries, 809 islands, 7 seas, and I had the privilege to meet you!

MEET JARED: Jared is AMAZING!!! Oh my heck I just adore this boy. He has one of the strongest testimonies of anyone I have EVER met! I love how much the Gospel means to him and how evident that has become to me through just simply watching his actions and how he handles every day situations. Jared is a hard worker and has ambition. He knows the importance of getting things done. One of my many favorite things about him is his love for his family. They are his heart and soul! It is cute just watching him light up as he talks about each of them...can't help but to smile! Jared is HILARIOUS!!! I probably laugh about 100 times a day! He is just an all around GREAT catch! I'm one LUCKY girl, the LUCKIEST!!

HOW WE MET:
This is actually a really funny story, I love it!! Jared served in the Eugene Oregon Mission while I was across the country serving in the Southern states. He first met my brother while in La Pine for 6 months. Chad(brother) was his ward mission leader so they got the chance to work side by side the entire time. Jessica and Jet(sister-In-Law and Nephew) actually went out to Utah and stayed with Jared's family for a week last year...How crazy is that!?!!! I of course had no idea who this adorable boy was and what all was going on back home.

Jessica and Jet in Utah with their ward and Lindsay(Jareds little sister)last spring!Lindsay(Jared's little sister) with JetJared on his mission

Story continued... so a little later down the road Jared was transferred to the Springfield area. He covered two wards...my parents ward and my older sister Lindsay's ward!! He served there for 7 1/2 months. Lindsay had a neighbor who had just begun taking the missionary lessons so Jared was over all the time teaching those lessons. Lindsay's little family instantly fell in love with "Elder Turner". Lindsay would always write and tell me about this amazing missionary who she just had to set me up with when I got home. I guess she would say the same things to him too. Neither of us really responded or thought much about of it...just Lindsay being Lindsay..haha I adore her! So when I got home from my mission I was in no way looking for someone to marry or even date for that matter. I was completely content and to be honest I was actually talking to a really GREAT guy who I will always love and respect. Lindsay however had other plans in store. She was in line with our Heavenly Father. I think they were plotting this out together(seriously would not surprise me)! She would not get off this Elder Turner kick. She talked about him non-stop. Apparently she facebook stalked him and sent him a message giving him my number and telling him to call me. He did. I answered. It went well. He asked me out. I said yes. Two weeks later....
THE FIRST DATE:I totally expecting it to be awkward x 10. I was ready to go and get it over with. I was ready for Lindsay to leave me alone with the whole Jared Turner thing..haha So, Jared came to pick me up around 4:00 in the after
noon. The first thing I thought when I saw him was, "Crap, he's a cutie"...haha We hit it off within the first second. It came so naturally. We laughed and joked throughout the entire evening. We went to temple square and walked around a while before eating dinner on the roof top of the Joseph Smith building(over looking the temple). It was an AMAZING view...so much fun! After dinner we went to a space planetarium, statue garden and last but not least hiked Ensign peak...BAREFOOT!!!! It was crazy AWESOME!!! It was a date that I thought nothing about and didn't think anything would come of BUT...It turned out to be a date of a life time. It changed everything in a matter of hours. At the conclusion of that day, I was falling for a boy I hardly even knew. It was the strangest feeling in the world. It was the beginning....More happiness to come in the future :)

The Heart & Love

"Every person in the world has a heart

&
Every heart has a place within
that wants only to love and be loved"

I've been thinking a lot about the HEART lately...sounds silly I know,
BUT........
Isn't it weird that everything that has to do with love comes back to the symbol of the heart?!?!!

The average human heart beats 72 times a minute, 100,000 times a day and about 35 million times a year. During an average lifetime, the human heart will beat more than 2.5 billion times. Every day, the heart creates enough energy to drive a truck 20 miles. In a lifetime, that is equivalent to driving to the moon and back. The heart does the most physical work of any muscle.

I just think it's interesting that the heart is the one organ that has to work the hardest and is also the one organ that like I said above symbolizes LOVE!
The conclusion that I have come to is this: JUST LIKE THE HEART, LOVE TAKES WORK!
A lot of work!
It's tough stuff to love! It's hard at times to communicate, to listen, to be there in times of need. It's hard to get past in-differences, arguments and frustrations.
It's hard to be selfless!
It's hard but it's necessary.
Given the heart's arduous task of supplying the body with blood every day, it must be well taken care of. LOVE NEEDS TO BE WELL TAKEN CARE OF. A heart that is improperly cared for may develop heart disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among Americans.
A LOVE that isn't well taken care of will eventually suffer complications and in some cases death.
There are known things that help prevent heart disease...weight loss, exercise, medical treatment, etc. There are also known things that we need to do to prevent "Love Disease"...SERVICE, COMMUNICATION, RESPECT, TRUST, SELFLESSNESS, etc.

I guess the reason I am posting this is because it was the number one thing that I saw as a missionary working among all different types of people in all different circumstances. I feel like the world is forgetting how to love.
I too am guilty of this.
"A friend loveth at ALL times" Proverbs 17:17
Show your BEST FRIEND in life how much you love them and do it often!

The heart keeps the body living but love keeps the soul living
